Privacy Concerns

Privacy concerns is very debatable topic. A lot of Facebook users find it worrying because all of their data is stored in the internet. But Facebook is not the only website that stores private information. Facebook receives as much data as from Microsoft and Google, but a lot less than Yahoo. Facebook had already cases of private data loss. For example in 2007 on some pages the code of the page was displayed rather than a normal page. So anyone could copy that code that has private information in it. And in November 2007 Facebook launched Beacon. This is a system that sends the informations of the users actions to the third-party websites. This was a serious mistake of Facebook. So this system was shut down in 2009. In addition to that the company failed to keep their promise about not sharing users personal information with the advertising companies. And there are a lot or rumors that Facebook sells the identity of their users for money. On of the links below will give you more information on that.

You should always make sure that your profile settings are as confidential as you want them to be. Not the default settings!
